Right now I am sitting in the Dragon Cafe, strenuously trying to think of something to write. I want to write about everything, but at the same time I don’t know what to write. Ughhh so frustrating!! I was hoping the magical sounds of the Piano Guys would help me write….so far it is a lost cause.
Well, I guess I’ll just stick with the usual update for now, unless some miraculous way something more meaningful comes to mind.
I have a job at the Box Office in the Center of Arts here on campus, which I start tomorrow! I am super nervous, but also excited. Basically what I will be doing is receiving phone calls from customers who want to buy tickets for upcoming, on-campus events. We also have to be at the actual events helping with the tickets.
All my classes are going well, so far. I’m a little hesitant about my music classes, which consist of Music Theory I and Aural Skills. In Music Theory we are getting into diatonic and chromatic scales. I understand the difference of the two, but the pitch worksheets we have to do make my mind boggle. We also have to know the tetra chords and know the major scales. In Aural Skills we have to do sight-singing, rhythmic and melodic listenings. So, we have to write down notes and rhythms from what we hear our teacher play on the piano. Hopefully once the class is over I’ll have it down!
I am also helping teach an FYE(First Year Experience) class with one of the most awesome members of our campus, Kelsey Stacken. This is all apart of the SOC program I have talked about in past blogs. Thanks to the SOC program I have been able to meet so many awesome people and get to know others better! Seriously one of the best experiences I have been able to be apart of! I have a group of International students who, hopefully, are enjoying the class! I love being able to relate with them since I have been in their shoes of moving to another country and not being able to go home on the weekends to see our parents. It can be super hard, but in the end it is worth it. You learn so much about life and yourself.
Here’s to another year, that is going to be better than the last!
Until next time. Xxx
